Mark Hashimi - MSc MBACP UKCP CTA

Counselling & psychotherapy

I am an experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor and I provide both short and long term work for individuals, couples and groups.

I am trained in Transactional Analysis and hold an MSc in psychotherapy. I adhere to the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) Code of Ethics and am a registered/accredited member of these organisations.

I provide a safe and confidential environment to help clients make meaning for themselves in order to progress and develop in life, exploring relationships, behaviours, thoughts and feelings that may be getting in the way of happiness. I work relationally, drawing on a wide range of approaches relevant to the clients I'm working with.

Trauma therapy

I am trained in EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapy that has been proven to be effective in treating trauma, and is recommended by the UK's National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am also trained in CISD, which stands for critical incident stress debriefing. This is a process intended to limit symptoms of trauma post being exposed to a traumatic event. I designed and developed the trauma awareness training for those impacted by the Grenfell tragedy and have also supported the emergency services and armed response officers within the Met police.

I also have experience with techniques and methods that involve emotional recall and sense memory, including the Meisner Technique and work with actors who train in this area.

Work related stress

In addition to counselling and psychotherapy, I have worked in a number of senior management positions over the last ten years including Head of Workplace Wellbeing & Counselling for the mental health charity Mind. This has provided me with significant experience when dealing with work related issues. I am currently the director of Strategic Wellbeing and deliver talks, workshops and 121 support for employees across the UK who are struggling with mental health and stress in the workplace. www.strategicwellbeing.com

I have an interest in, and experience of using ancient healing methods to promote recovery and wellbeing. Alongside my counselling, psychotherapy and workplace work, I work as a shamanic practitioner in training. I am also trained in advanced theta healing, a meditative energy healing technique. Please contact me for more information on this area.

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time
